What to Say When You Call

If you are calling from abroad on behalf of a family member in Pakistan, here is what to communicate clearly:

1. The address — as specific as possible, with landmarks
2. The patient's condition — conscious/unconscious, breathing, major injury

When 1122 is the Right Call

1122 (Rescue) is the best-resourced ambulance service in Pakistan and operates across Punjab. Their response times in Lahore have improved dramatically in recent years. For any life-threatening emergency in Punjab — chest pain, collapse, major accident, stroke symptoms — call 1122 first.

Signs of stroke (call immediately):

• Sudden face drooping on one side
• Arm weakness — one arm drifts down
• Speech difficulty — slurred or confused
• Time to call — do not wait

Signs of heart attack (call immediately):

• Central chest pain or heaviness
• Pain spreading to arm, jaw, or back
• Sweating and nausea
